Determine Which Goals to Keep
The number one problem with accomplishing goals is having "too many" goals to begin with. You cannot begin accomplishing your goals if your list is too large. A lengthy "Bucket List" of goals you want to have completed before you die is not necessarily achievable. It is much easier to accomplish goals one at a time. So start small, begin with goals that are important, but achievable.
Begin by writing down the most important things you would like to complete in the next month, then the next year, and then before you die. Do this any way you would like, whether with a pencil and paper, with a Word document, or even a Facebook note. Don't worry about how long your list is or how important the items on your list are; write them all down until you feel you have listed them all. Do not assign an order of preference.
Now leave your list be - let it sit for one week. After a week come back and cross off every item you feel is either unattainable or is "not as important" as you had thought. This will allow you to consolidate your goals into a manageable list of the most important things you want to accomplish.
The next step is to Single Out One Goal You Can Achieve in a Short Period of Time.
The secret to productive goal setting is establishing clearly defined goals, writing them down and then focusing on them several times a day with words and emotions as if we've already achieved them. ~ Denis Waitley.
